HISTORY OF THE "26"
"96 Years of East Side Pride"
HIGHLAND PARK FIRE COMPANY
24 Park Ave.
Upper Darby, Pa 19082
A group of dedicated citizens felt the need for fire protection on the Highland Park area and organized the Highland Park Fire Company on November 29th, 1911. The Highland Park Fire Company is one of five companies that make up the Upper Darby Township Fire Department. We are located on Park Ave. off of West Chester Pike, aka "The Upper East Side". We earned our nickname the "Highland Hilton" because of the hospitality we show our brothers from neighboring county companies that come and ride with us. The first piece of equipment was a hand drawn hose cart, which was later replaced by horse drawn carts. To date we house four pieces of modern equipment. We house two engines, one ladder, one rescue and one chief's vehicle/command vehicle. Our station responds to an average of 900 calls a year with an average of 60 working fires. We have 30 active volunteer members, 1 Chief, 1 Deputy Chief, 1 Asst. Chief, 2 Captains, 2 Lieutenants, 2 Safety Officers and eight career firefighters (members of Local IAFF 2493, approx 46 members). We take great pride in our staffing and our response times. The members of the Highland Park Fire Company would like to thank you for taking time to visit our website.
